1I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.
2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:
4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.
5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
9 Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.
David, the King of Israel prays for the peace of Jerusalem. Do we pray for peace, peace in the world? No, for we know it is only God holding back the winds that are blowing. We know there won't be peace in the world. The Bible tells us ahead of time that we will have wars and rumors of wars, crime, fires, floods, earthquakes, and much more as we near the end. A time such as never was is just in front of us. Do we want peace? Of course we do. But rather than asking God for the peace He has promised, we do that which we know will bring peace to us, for it is one of the fruits of the Spirit that comes when we love the Lord our God with the whole heart. When the Holy Spirit takes possession of the heart, He brings with Him, love, joy, and peace.
David understood this. He experienced this peace as He submitted his heart to God.
I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good." Ps. 122:1,4,6-9.
