1 When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.
3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
4 Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
"When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream." Ps. 126:1.
As it was with Israel so it is today. David, the King of Israel did not know the end of Israel as God's chosen people. There comes a day when mercy ends, not just for a chosen people, but for individuals. The Jewish nation was a symbol of the people of all ages who scorn the pleadings of Infinite Love. The tears of Christ when He wept over Jerusalem were for the sins of all time. In the judgments pronounced upon Israel, those who reject the reproofs and warnings of the Holy Spirit, may read their own condemnation. Israel today is not His chosen nation. A Jew can become saved as a Christian, but not the nation. Who are chosen? Many are called, but few choose to follow Jesus. "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Rom. 8:13,14.
