104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

106 I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.

107 I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O Lord, according unto thy word.

108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, and teach me thy judgments.

109 My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.

110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.

111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.

113 I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.

114 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

115 Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.

116 Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.

117 Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.

David whom Christ chose to be King of Israel, had spiritual discernment. We find him praising God over and over and praising God's Word most especially His law. What does David see in the law that most do not see? First, he has a connection with Jesus that he can obey Him, that is to say he can keep His statutes. Was he perfect in keeping His law? Like Job and Moses, there were times he did not have a connection with God and thus brought reproach upon God and His Word. 


Secondly, David knew something that many overlook. He knew the law was a transcript of God's character. It was a law of love. If we break the commandments of God, do we love our neighbor? If we steel from our neighbor, or lie about our neighbor, or commit adultery do we love our neighbor? Why do so many not understand the law is a law of love? Why is it spoken of as being something we cannot do? Because the Apostle Paul hated the religion he followed prior to his conversion. He was a Pharisee who worshiped the law, but did not keep it from the heart. They were hypocrites. That false religion Paul hated and spoke against the false teaching of the law. The law cannot save anyone. We are saved by grace. But, His law is holy and can be kept. We can be loving and kind to our neighbor if we will love God with the whole heart. Until we are saved by God's love, we cannot do any good thing. We must be born again of the Spirit in order to keep the law from our heart. It is the heart God wants, all of it. If we love the Lord our God with the whole heart, then we will manifest all of the fruits of the Spirit, not one will be missing.

Psalm 119:104-106,112,116,117.
